Chicken and chorizo pasta

I have nothing to say about this except I wish I’d made four times as much so I could be stuffing my face with more of it right now. (more…)
Courgette lasagne

I know, I know. Courgette lasagne? Really? Surely it can’t taste that good. Or fill you up at all. In fact, it sounds like a stupid idea. But it’s not! It’s a really good idea! I promise! (more…)
Gnocchi with sausage and bolognese, or what happens when I don’t make decisions

I am terrible, TERRIBLE, at making decisions. Shall we go to this restaurant or that restaurant? Should I have cheesecake or sticky toffee pudding? Or the chocolate fondant? Do I really want garlic bread if I’m having pizza? (Yes, yes I do). And it’s not just food decisions I can’t make. Do I want to watch my new, exciting Lovefilm or another episode of the Sopranos? Do I want to read at lunchtime or go running? (Admittedly, deciding which I’d prefer here isn’t difficult, but oh, the guilt if I don’t run). Do I think this dress is beautiful or is it actually so hideous that it’s become interesting, but ultimately unwearable? (more…)

I always mean to plan the following week’s meals at the weekend and buy all the ingredients so that tea in the week involves the minimum possible amount of stress. What usually happens though, is this:
Chris: “What’s for tea?”
Me: “Umm… I’ll see what we have in the fridge” (more…)
Parma ham and anchovy pasta

In case you hadn’t noticed, we eat a lot of pasta. It’s yummy, good for using up leftover ingredients you happen to have in the fridge, and quick for when you’ve had to stay in the office until 9pm. Stupid work. (more…)
Tomato and mozzarella pasta bake

Believe it or not, whereas now I will stuff my face with pretty much any amazing food, up until I was about 16 I was an absolute nightmare to feed. My tastes were incredibly unsophisticated, the list of foods I didn’t like could fill a book and I rejected nearly all of the lovely food my mum cooked in favour of tomato sauce sandwiches, chicken burgers and shop-bought chocolate swiss roll. There are some foods, though, which you can’t dislike, no matter how difficult you are. This is one of them. (more…)
Sausage and mustard pasta

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking you won’t like this because mustard is gross. Really, really gross. Seriously, who likes mustard? Definitely not me. I like this pasta though. A lot. And I’m sure you will like this pasta enough to point out something on the tv to whoever you’re eating with and then steal bits off their plate (do you ever eat something too quickly and then you’re jealous that other people still have food left? Sucks.). (more…)
Turkey and anchovy meatballs with spaghetti

Meatballs have always been one of our favourite meals (doesn’t everyone love meatballs?), and I’ve made lots of different versions. Plain beef, turkey and mozzarella, pork and mushroom. All sorts! I’m not even sure which are my favourites. But these are Chris’s current favourites and are often requested when I ask him what he wants for tea. (more…)

Today’s post is brought to you from my mum’s kitchen! My mum and I are both big fans of fish and seafood, especially crab, prawns and lobster. Our favourite crab recipe was always Singapore chilli crab, but on one holiday in Cornwall we bought enough crab for two nights and decided to try something new with it. That’s when we came up with this recipe. (more…)
