Chocolate banoffee pie

Yep. Chocolate. Banoffee. Pie. Look at it. Don’t you just want to stick your face in it? Well, you shouldn’t. You’d have cream all over your face! It would be much more sensible to eat it with a spoon. (more…)

Believe it or not, whereas now I will stuff my face with pretty much any amazing food, up until I was about 16 I was an absolute nightmare to feed. My tastes were incredibly unsophisticated, the list of foods I didn’t like could fill a book and I rejected nearly all of the lovely food my mum cooked in favour of tomato sauce sandwiches, chicken burgers and  shop-bought chocolate swiss roll. There are some foods, though, which you can’t dislike, no matter how difficult you are. This is one of them. (more…)

This isn’t the prettiest of meals, but let’s not hold that against it. This is slightly poshed up turkey kiev and chips. And it was ace. You get to coat stuff in breadcrumbs! Does that make anyone else feel a bit clever? No? Oh. (more…)

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking you won’t like this because mustard is gross. Really, really gross. Seriously, who likes mustard? Definitely not me. I like this pasta though. A lot. And I’m sure you will like this pasta enough to point out something on the tv to whoever you’re eating with and then steal bits off their plate (do you ever eat something too quickly and then you’re jealous that other people still have food left? Sucks.). (more…)

Oh, Nigella, is there anything you can’t do? Probably. Probably many things, in fact. Like flying, and opening one of those yoghurts with the foil lids without forgetting to point it away from you so you don’t get yoghurt all over yourself. But anyway, I don’t care, because you introduced me to these ridiculously yummy naan bread pizzas. (more…)

After coming back from my holiday not quite looking like Kelly Brook (because of eating things like this), I decided I needed to get fitter. My friend Emma, who is a lot fitter than me, kindly offered to go running with me twice a week before work. This means getting up at 6am (urgh) to run three miles (urgh). Horrible. So, to make it more bearable, we agreed that we would take it in turns to bring muffins in for a post-run reward. I know this may sound counter-productive, but you try running before most sane people get up. (more…)

Did I mention my sister graduated last month? With a 2:1? She’s very smart. And here is another reason she’s smart: to celebrate, she requested Tiramisu and Banoffee cupcakes. Yum yum yum. (more…)

Every time I go to the supermarket, I walk past the fish counter, see a billion monkfish tails and wish I had a good recipe to use them in. So, when I was flicking through magazines to plan this week’s meals yesterday and came across this recipe I was a little bit excited. I chose the other recipes I would make this week, wrote my shopping list and went to the supermarket. And then I went to three other supermarkets. None of them had monkfish. One didn’t even have a fish counter! (more…)

Today’s post is brought to you from my mum’s kitchen! My mum and I are both big fans of fish and seafood, especially crab, prawns and lobster. Our favourite crab recipe was always Singapore chilli crab, but on one holiday in Cornwall we bought enough crab for two nights and decided to try something new with it. That’s when we came up with this recipe. (more…)
