So, Easter kinda came and went, huh? Yeah it did. So here’s what we’re going to do: we’re going to pretend that this cake is decorated with eggs and stuff because I’m MENTAL and I will decorate baked goods with anything I like, whether it’s a holiday or not. If you were to count my chocolate cookbooks (why do I always seem to be counting my cookbooks?), you would find that I have ten of them. Ten cookbooks devoted to chocolate. That is how much I love chocolate. And I have five more on my Amazon wishlist. Why? What is wrong with me? I shall tell you: Nothing, you fool. Why wouldn’t I want ten chocolate cookbooks? Chocolate is amazing. And after making this recipe from Willie’s Chocolate Bible, I shall be buying the book to add to my collection. Come in if you love chocolate!

Are Mars bars the finest chocolate bar ever created? Yes. Yes they are. Mars bars have got me through many an afternoon at work and I would eat several every day if I could. They are possibly my favourite chocolate bar and I decided I needed to make a cupcake based on them. Turns out these are my favourite cupcakes too! (more…)

I have spent the past few days feeling very sorry for myself. I have picked up some sort of mutant flu (or a bad cold) and my head hurts too much to do anything. Fortunately, before I was struck down with this horrible flu (or bad cold), I made these amazing caramel brownies and so I have been consoling myself by stuffing my face with them. (more…)

Last time I counted my cookbooks, I had around sixty five on my bookshelf. I decided this was plenty and that I would try not to buy any for a while. At the weekend I went shopping and I saw this (which I’m fairly certain is this book, having compared the indexes). Obviously I had to have it, and I’d been so good, I deserved it. My first cookbook for ages! Or so I thought. When I got home, I decided to count my cookbooks again (don’t envy my exciting life). Eighty five. I have eighty five cookbooks. Somehow, in my break from buying cookbooks, I have acquired twenty extra cookbooks. I do not know how this has happened. I couldn’t tell you which twenty are new. Oops. (more…)

This started life as a jam and white chocolate roly poly. My Good Food magazine came with a yummy looking dessert on the front and I took it round to Mum’s house to show her. “That looks nice”, she said, “what’s in it?”. “Well, it’s got suet in it…”. This was thoroughly rejected. So I decided to turn it into swiss roll instead. (more…)

When I started this blog, I decided I’d join the Daring Bakers. I love trying new recipes, but it’s not very often that I make something which is a big challenge, partly because I don’t have the patience and partly because I’m worried it’ll go wrong. I’ve always, always, always loved the idea of making chocolates, but it always seemed like a right faff, so this month’s challenge gave me the push I needed to finally have a go.
Blog-checking lines: The August 2011 Daring Bakers’ Challenge was hosted by Lisa of Parsley, Sage, Desserts and Line Drive and Mandy of What the Fruitcake?!. These two sugar mavens challenged us to make sinfully delicious candies!
