Hands up if you love Maltesers! *puts both hands up*
I had one of my obsessive days a few days ago where I NEEDED to make something with Maltesers. For some reason I decided on fudge. There are a lot of cheaty, no-thermometer-needed fudge recipes around and all they seem to involve is chocolate, condensed milk and maybe some butter. So I figured I’d have a go and see what happened. What happened was yumminess and I put it in my face.
Maltesers fudge
A Cafe Lula recipe
Makes about 64 small squares
Ingredients:
300g/10.5 oz milk chocolate
100g/3.5 oz plain chocolate (around 50% cocoa solids)
1 x 397g/14 oz tin condensed milk
60g/2 oz (about 1/2 a stick) butter
3 tbsp Horlicks powder
100g/3.5 oz Maltesers (about 5 fun-size packs)
Lightly grease and line a 23cm square tin.
In a large pan, melt the chocolate, condensed milk, butter and Horlicks powder over a low heat. Stir until you have a smooth mixture. The mixture should come away from the pan quite easily. It looks a bit like a funny slime monster. A yummy, funny slime monster.
Pour and scrape the mixture into the tin. Scatter the Maltesers over the top and gently press them into the fudge a teeny bit. Chill for a few hours until firm (I put mine in the fridge over night). Cut into squares. Marvel at how little it now resembles a monster.
I’m not a huge malted milk ball fan, but THIS I would eat! 😀
I bought some malteaser fudge last year at a chocolate festival and I’ve been meaning to recereate it for ages because the combination of smooth fudge and crunchy malteaser was just the best! Love the pictures too, especially that second one!
Thanks! I love love love Maltesers and you can stick pretty much anything in cheaty fudge.
Wait… chocolate festival? Where?!
But, but… maltesers? And fudge? AS ONE?
I bow to you, my chocolate overlord.
