Every time I go to the supermarket, I walk past the fish counter, see a billion monkfish tails and wish I had a good recipe to use them in. So, when I was flicking through magazines to plan this week’s meals yesterday and came across this recipe I was a little bit excited. I chose the other recipes I would make this week, wrote my shopping list and went to the supermarket. And then I went to three other supermarkets. None of them had monkfish. Today’s post is brought to you from my mum’s kitchen! My mum and I are both big fans of fish and seafood, especially crab, prawns and lobster. Our favourite crab recipe was always Singapore chilli crab, but on one holiday in Cornwall we bought enough crab for two nights and decided to try something new with it. My mum is brilliant at languages; she speaks pretty good French and German. My dad was fluent in Italian. My sisters have also managed to pick up the languages they were taught at school to an impressive standard. But the language gene seems to have skipped me, because the only things I remember from language lessons at school are the german for “round the corner” (“um die Ecke”!) and the recipe for this chocolate mousse. I was lying in bed this morning, nice and warm in the snuggly duvet, when a nagging little voice in my head decided it was time for me to get up. “It’s the last day of your holiday”, it said, “you don’t want to waste it in bed”. “But we’ve been everywhere we wanted to go”, I thought, “and the weather is horrible”. “But you’re only here for one more day”, replied the little voice, “won’t you regret wasting the morning in bed?”.
