Oh, Nigella, is there anything you can’t do? Probably. Probably many things, in fact. Like flying, and opening one of those yoghurts with the foil lids without forgetting to point it away from you so you don’t get yoghurt all over yourself. But anyway, I don’t care, because you introduced me to these ridiculously yummy naan bread pizzas.
Do you know how long they took to make? About 10 minutes. Do you know how long they took to cook? 7 minutes. Yep. I vow never to order pizza ever again, because it turns out I can make a much better one in less time than takeaway pizza takes to order and be delivered. Well. I wouldn’t say no to a free Domino’s. But I’d definitely feel grotty from all that salt. Anyway! Make these. You can top them with whatever you like. I chose mushrooms, red pepper and parma ham. And more mozzarella than any one person needs. Nom.
Naan bread pizzas
Adapted from Nigella Express
Serves 2
Ingredients:
4 shop bought mini plain naans
4 tbsp passata (1 tbsp per mini naan)
salt and black pepper
a pinch of oregano per naan
80g mozzarella
125g mozzarella ball, sliced thinly
2 slices parma ham, cut into slices
8 chestnut mushrooms, sliced
2/3 red pepper, cut into small chunks
olive oil, for frying
Preheat the oven to 200C and put a baking tray in the oven at the same time.
In a frying pan, heat a little olive oil and fry the mushrooms and red peppers for a few minutes. Set aside.
Put the naans on the heated baking tray and put 1-2 tbsp passata on each naan, depending how much sauce you like. Spread to cover each naan and season each naan with a little salt and black pepper and a small pinch of oregano.
Sprinkle 20g of grated mozzarella on each naan, then place 1/4 (or less if you like) of the mozzarella ball on each. Remove the mushrooms and pepper from the pan with a slotted spoon, and then divide the parma ham, mushrooms and pepper between the naan pizzas. Bake for 7 minutes.
I am a naan LOVER! Never thought to make a pizza out of it! We usually just spread pesto on them!
Naans are ace! Hmm, this is making me ponder what else you could put on them. And now I’m hungry for naan.
Those are so cute!
I was just looking for a recipe for naan bread! this looks delicious, thanks for posting!!
