Hotel Chocolat makes some of my favourite chocolate (milk chocolate with chilli, sticky toffee-centred chocolate, cookie choc chip slabs… the list goes on!). I visited the Birmingham Bullring branch of Hotel Chocolat the other day for a “browse” and ended up with a bag full of chocolate. Oops. So obviously I was thrilled to be sent a giant slab of their Nibbly Noel from their Christmas range to review!
The Nibbly Noel giant slab is, well, a giant slab (I know, who saw that coming?) of milk, dark and gingerbread praline chocolate, with cookie pieces and a milk chocolate wreath in the middle. It is beautiful to look at and it is beautiful to eat. It tastes of Christmas! Really! As is to be expected if you’ve tried their chocolate before, the milk and dark chocolate is gorgeous. But the warm spiciness of the gingerbread chocolate really makes this bar ace.
Look how prettily it’s arranged! That definitely isn’t to disguise the fact that half of one of those pieces got eaten before I could take a photo. Nope.
Only downside is that at £15 for 500g, I do think it’s a little pricey. Of course, if you are a fan of Rococo, Artisan du chocolat, etc. you will probably be scoffing at my utter stingyness right now and consider this to be rather a bargain. In which case you should probably buy this bar immediately (and get me one while you’re at it!).
And now the best part: I have another of these giant slabs to give away to one UK reader! Yep, giant gingerbread praline chocolate slab, potentially coming your way, to put in your face. You can share it if you like, but I definitely resent everyone who had a piece of mine. A lot. You hear that, Chris? Mum? Emma? RESENT.
Where was I? Oh yeah, slab to giveaway.
How to enter: If you’d like a chance to win, just leave a comment about your favourite “I’m treating myself” chocolate. It doesn’t have to be Hotel Chocolat. It can be super, duper posh or it can be good old Dairy Milk. If you’d like an extra entry then simply tweet the following:
“I entered to win @hotelchocolat Nibbly Noel giant slab with @cafelula http://wp.me/p1GeYM-g0 ”
…and then leave another comment saying you did, with your twitter username.
The deadline for entering is midnight on Sunday 27th November. Please make sure to leave your email address when you comment (only I will be able to view it) so that I can contact you if you’ve won! Only open to UK readers (sorry).
The winner will be chosen at random. I will then email the winner to obtain their postal address, as well as announcing on the blog. The prize will be sent directly from Hotel Chocolat.
The boring bit: I was not compensated in any way for this review, other than the bar I was sent to review. All opinions expressed here are my own!
P.S. If you came here hoping for a recipe, I’ve been rather inspired by this chocolate slab so expect a Hotel Chocolat-inspired Christmassy recipe coming soon!
I absolutely love Godiva anything- the chocolates, the cookies, the hot chocolate. I always feel like I’m enjoying such a luxury when I stop at the store to get some. I savor every bite.
Oh, I just noticed this is for UK readers, I skimmed the last part. That’s fine, I’m happy to share my chocolate story anyway 🙂
Chocolate talk is always good, even if I can’t send you some for free 🙂 It sounds like I need to try this Godiva stuff you speak of…
Pictures look amazing and your description of the chocolate just sounds so good! I want to try it, can’t wait to see your post inspired by this chocolate! I think my favourite is homemade chocolate fudge, yum!
Ha! Funny that my inspired recipe is chocolate gingerbread fudge then! 🙂
I tweeted too! 🙂 @mikesbaking

Wow, lucky you getting this gorgeous chocolate to review – love the idea of it including gingerbread! My favourite chocolate bar treat would probably be something from Hotel Chocolat…I love their Rocky Road slabs.
I love Rococco and Montezuma chocolates – yum! Hotel Chocolat is pretty good too.

I’m slightly ashamed after the artisan du chocolat tasting yesterday to admit that I LOVE CADBURYS! There I said it! Its the taste of childhood!
I too LOVE Hotel Chocolat in fact we broke down their selector packs for our wedding favours in July 🙂
But, when it comes to treat time on the sofa with a cuppa and cadburys whole nut in long wedges to dip in the tea (of course!) is hard to beat!
That’s a lovely idea!
You just can’t beat good old Cadbury’s sometimes 🙂

Ha ha, my favourite chocolates are too many to mention, but after yesterday’s amazing Artisan du Chocolat experience, I wouldn’t mind a bar or three of their masala chai milk chocolate.
Yeah, that was some good chocolate 🙂
I’m treating myself with fry’s chocolate crea this year the blue one. If I dont buy it and wrap it up and put it under the tree I won’t get any
I’ve just looked this up and now I don’t know how I’ve never heard of it! Think I’m going to have to get myself acquainted with it very soon.
I always treat my self with Terry’s chocolate oranges… It’s great this time of they year…They are so easy to find…hehehe
Edit: edited out email so you don’t get any spam 🙂 – Julia
Thanks for entering!

It would have to be Hotel Chocolat for me. I live in north of Scotland, and only knew of then thru my sis in law who lived near a store buying chrimble pressies. Totally, totally LUSH!! So its def my big treat, and usually at chrimble time!
I am a huge, huge Hotel Chocolat fan. I’m thinking about popping in tomorrow on my lunch break and going MENTAL. And also buying some chocolate.

What a nice giveaway….chocolate! My favorite! When I treat myself, I like one of several things! Anything with peanut butter – or – there is this artisan chocolatier that makes the BEST pilsner truffle. It sounds weird, but it’s a delight!
When I was in Charleston, SC I had the most amazing blue cheese truffle. Another flavor you wouldn’t think would work, but this guy was a genius!
I’m treating myself to mini M&M’s for baking in cookies. I just bought them while visiting the US.
Sorry, my web address wasn’t correct on my original comment. It’s fixed now.
I really love Hotel Chocolat. Their Salted Caramel Milk Chocolate Puddles are my ultimate treat. Not cheap but I ration them to a couple a day so they last me about 2 weeks. I love them.
